Horseware’s Guide to Choosing the Best Cooler Rug for Your Horse

There are many types of Cooler rugs available under the Horseware name, and several versions of each type.

The Cooler
This sheet is designed to be used after exercise or washing to encourage the drying process by wicking away moisture while keeping the horse comfortable and preventing him from getting a chill from cooling off too quickly or standing around wet.
As previously described, we have the Rambo Helix which comes very highly recommended.

There is the Rambo Cotton Cooler. This is a cotton-rich knitted fabric with a hidden surcingle and it wicks away moisture effectively. The Rambo Net Cooler with Belly Strap is air textured polyester net with a hidden surcingle. The net style is a more traditional type of cooler, allowing air to travel through to dry the horse and is more suited to warmer conditions or under another cooler in colder weather.

The Rambo Newmarket Fleece is super quality double bonded anti-pill fleece that wicks away moisture and cools the horse gradually to maintain its temperature. So soft it moulds around the horse and can be used as a travel rug as well.

The Amigo Jersey Cooler is a brushed polyester fleece that wicks moisture away quickly and efficiently. It has a single Velcro closure at the front and a hidden surcingle. Available each season in the funkiest fashion colours.

The Amigo Mio Fleece is a lightweight anti-pill fleece and is our basic fleece cooler.A treat coming up for the AW11 season is the introduction of the Grand Prix range which will include the Grand Prix Fleece which will be 600g weight, hi-tech double bonded anti-pill fleece with excellent thermal and wicking properties.  The Grand Prix is a multi-purpose fleece for cooler summer nights or colder weather that looks the part for every level of competition. Please use the Horseware Rug Size Chart below as a guide to buying the correct size of rug for your horse.  If in doubt, try the rug on over a clean sheet before using.  As a guide, if you have a size you are happy with on your horse in a turnout rug, you may take a size down for a stable rug as they don’t need as much room and freedom.
