Choosing the right dog food for your dog may not be something which passes your mind when you are purchasing your usual supply of dog food. Just like humans, dogs have different appetites to each other. If you are planning on changing the food that you give your dog then it is a good idea to slowly feed them that new food so their bodies get used to it before you make the complete change and it is always imperative that you give them a healthy diet.
In order to stay fit and healthy a dog needs a well-balanced diet so make sure that you provide your canine friend with just that; take note that human meals will not provide your dog with the nutrition it needs. There are also some human food which is unexpectedly poisonous to dogs such as chocolate and onions. Your dog needs to eat at least once a day and their dietary needs are dependent on their age, how much they weigh and how active they are; if your dog overeats then they could become overweight and this could potentially be distressing.
If you feed your dog the same amount every day, making sure that it is not too much or too little. Your dog will get used to this routine. By feeding your dog the same amount it allows you to realise when your dog changes its eating habits and when or if this does occur, we recommended you consult your vet.
To give your dog a balanced diet s/he would need a good combination of meat, cereals and vegetables; with the added extra of treats. Similarly to humans, dogs need proteins, fats and oils, minerals, vitamins, carbohydrates and water to stay healthy and happy. You will need a healthy balance of dog tins & pouches, dry dog food and dog treats but you can also give them vegetables as a healthy extra to their diet.
