Theodore OConnor, a 14.1-hand Thoroughbred
Sportpony gelding, made history at the 2007 Rolex
Kentucky Three-Day Event CCI**** in Lexington,
Kentucky, as he became the first pony horses are
14.2 hands or taller to compete in the prestigious
four-star event. The Pony, as he was referred to
throughout the weekend, was piloted to third place by
two-time Olympic medallist Karen OConnor and was
one of only two horses to finish the show jumping
round with no jumping or time penalties. In the end,
he was awarded the Best Conditioned Horse Trophy.
Then, to further that spectacular start to the competitive
year, he carried OConnor to a double gold medal
victory in the 2007 Pan American Games!
Bred and owned by Sportponies Unlimited, Theodore
OConnor, better known as Teddy around the barn,
was foaled in 1995 by the Thoroughbred stallion,
Theodore, out of a Thoroughbred/Arabian/Shetlandcross
mare, Chelseas Melody. Today, he is stabled
with the OConnor Event Team in The Plains, Virginia
and in Ocala, Florida.
